Stay Healthy Stay Fit

Hello Friends,

Greetings for the day.

I was just going through a topic related to health and amazed to read views people generally have about it. Some of the comments are quite interesting. It’s O.K we can enjoy the topic on a lighter note, but before that let us first go through some facts which many of us are unaware of.

1. Diabetes is today recognized as a major lifestyle disease and India has become the Diabetes Capital of the world with 77 million Diabetics between 20-79 years suffering from this dreaded disease and continues to increase by the day. The WHO also estimates that 80 per cent of diabetes deaths occur in low and middle-income countries and projects that such deaths will double between 2021 and 2030. According to a World Health Organization (WHO) fact sheet on diabetes, an estimated 3.4 million deaths are caused due to high blood sugar.

It has been further estimated that the global burden of type-2 diabetes is expected to increase to 438 million by 2030 from 285 million people (recorded in 2010). Similarly, for India this increase is estimated to be 58%, from 51 million people in 2010 to 87 million in 2030.

2. A study published in the noted medical journal Lancet says India is just behind US and China in this global hazard list of top 10 countries with highest number of obese people. One in every five Indian men and women are either obese or overweight.

3. Scientists expect that by 2030, more than 60 million people will suffer from Osteoarthritis.

4. Last but not the least, for respiratory disorders, a United Nations report says that more than 500,000 premature deaths in India are caused by atmospheric pollution each year. (This is what major part of country is experiencing right now)
And there are many other alarming situations which we all are getting close to very rapidly but might not be aware of. We haven’t always been concerned about good health and good nutrition.

But, let me tell you “IF YOU ARE NOT SICK THAT DOES NOT MEAN YOU ARE HEALTHY”.
I can say this because I have myself have gone through the same phase from being overweight (98Kg) and now getting things in control because of my Quest for Good/Optimal Health.

Hey,
Have you heard about 4 pillars of Optimal Health?
Do you know how much Nutrition is required by our body daily?
What are lifestyle diseases?
What choices do we have?

Trust me friends, if we are just talking about being overweight or obese it’s more of a mental challenge than physical. And the same applies to our overall health.
